Music festivals are huge across the UK and if you’re studying abroad here, you might be itching to go to some. Wherever you’re going to be staying, there are festivals taking place up and down the country throughout the summer.

Whatever your music taste, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Some of the biggest artists in the world come to the UK each year to play the festival scene and you don’t want to miss out.

Here are 5 of the best UK music festivals you should check out this summer.

Taking place on 8th – 9th June in Heaton Park, Manchester, Parklife is a very popular festival and lots of students love it. Some of the headline acts include Cardi B, Solange, George Ezra, and The Streets, to name but a few.

A weekend pass is £125  and the day pass costs £69.50. It doesn’t make it the cheapest festival but for acts as big as these, it is a bargain. It’s a great experience and if you’re staying in the North of England, it’s pretty easy to get to.

Glastonbury is by far the most popular UK music festival and it sells out very quickly. It has some amazing acts, this year they include Stormzy, The Killers, Years & Years, Miley Cyrus, Christine and the Queens, and so many more. 

It takes place from 26th – 30th June and tickets are £248 – so you might need to budget your student loan for it. It’s an unforgettable experience that people travel to from all around the world, so you won’t regret going.

Leeds and Reading festival takes place – you guessed it – in the cities of Leeds and Reading. It takes place on 23rd – 25th August and tickets cost £221.40  for a weekend pass or £76.50 for a day pass.

It might be expensive, but the lineup is always highly anticipated. This year, acts include The 1975, Post Malone, Foo Fighters and so much more. It’s one of the longest-running UK music festivals and people flock from all over the country to come to it.

 

If rock and metal music is your kind of thing, Download Festival is the one for you. This festival takes place in Derby on 14th – 16th June and tickets cost around £226.

Some of the headline acts include Slipknot, Tool, Def Leppard and many more metal and rock artists. It’s a wild event where you can meet other metalheads and you definitely won’t forget the experience in a hurry. 

Creamfields takes place in Cheshire on 22nd – 25th August and it’s a great way to enjoy the last of the summer before uni starts back up again. Headline acts this year include Calvin Harris, BICEP, deadmau5, and Fat Boy Slim.

If you’re into rave and dance music, this place is one big party for you. Tickets cost between  £85 and £230 depending on how many days you want to go and if you plan to camp there. It sells out pretty fast so you need to be quick!
