Are you moving into student accommodation this semester? Like all students, it's important to save up as much money as you can and live the frugal life.

But that doesn’t mean that can’t decorate your university room. It doesn’t have to cost much to give your room a splash of personality and it can have a great impact on your mood.

Think of your uni room as a blank canvas and you have free reign as the artist. There are so many ways to decorate your student accommodation beautifully without spending much at all, and here are a few ways to do it.

1) Get All the Posters

Posters are one of the best and cheapest ways to decorate your university room and they’re so easy to find. Pretty much every Fresher’s Fair at university sells a whole host of posters to suit every style and you’re sure to find a few you love.

They don’t cost much and all you need is some Blu Tac to stick it to your walls. Whether you want to go minimalist or cover your whole wall with posters, you can get creative with your poster use.

2) Fairy Lights are Great

Fairy lights are an awesome way to add some ambience and charm to your room without spending much. They can even provide a great source of calming light so you may not even need to invest in a lamp!

Whether they’re white Christmas lights or just a cheap bunch from IKEA, they do a great job of making your room look cosy and welcoming.

Drape them around your room to make the whole place more inviting and you’ll be tempted to sit under them reading a book for hours to come!

3) Get Some Plants

There are so many amazing benefits to having plants in the house as they clean the air and help remove toxins. But they also look amazing and help give your room a sophisticated air.

Lots of Fresher’s Fairs actually sell plants for cheap, and failing that you can always pick some up at your local market. If you often forget to water plants and fear killing them, pick up some succulents and cacti. They thrive on neglect so you don’t need to worry about being a bad plant parent!

4) Compartmentalise Drawer Space

In your student accommodation, you will get good storage space, but it will still be limited. You don’t want to throw everything into a drawer and spend minutes each morning shuffling through it all trying to find what you need.

You can buy compartments to keep everything separate and save you time each day. Or, you can even make your own! Chances are, you have plenty of cardboard boxes after moving in, and you can cut the sides to create drawer compartments.

This isn’t so much a style tip for decorating your room as much as it is a functional one. But it will help you keep your things better organised and save you time each day.

5) Make Your Desk Space Shine

During your time at university, you’re going to be working a lot. That means that you will have many nights hunched over that desk in your room, so you want it to serve you well.

Your desk should inspire you to work harder and stave off distractions. A great way to do this is to use your corkboard or a wire board to pin important tasks and posters to remind you to stay working.

Also add some plants and keep the space tidy and organised. It helps you stay motivated and will help you get a lot of work done. Plus, it makes your room look great too!

Decorating Your Student Accommodation Can Be Easy
