If you’re about to embark on your university adventure, you’re probably thinking about everything you want to do. You might have many plans for what you’ll do in your first year.

But that all starts with your very first day of university. This is going to be a nerve-wracking and busy day with lots going on, so you need to know what you’ll end up doing.

If you’re wondering about how your first day at university will go, read on to get an idea of what it may be like.

Move into Student Accommodation

When you first arrive in your new city, the first place you need to go is to your student accommodation. You’ll need to retrieve your keys and information pack from the welcome desk, and there might be people there to show you where everything is.

Next, you’ll head up to your room and explore your new flat. If any of your flatmates have already arrived, they’ll probably come to greet you.

You might was to unpack right away, or you might want to socialise first and leave the unpacking for later – it’s up to you.

Start Socialising

The next thing you’ll do is meet your flatmates and hang out with them properly. If they haven’t arrived yet, feel free to knock on doors of flats in your building and introduce yourself.

The best thing about living in a shared flat is they you get to make friends from the day you arrive. If you go for a studio flat, you can always head to the communal areas of the building and get to know people there instead as they will also be students who live there.

Go for a Night Out

When you arrive, it may be Fresher’s Week and that means there will be lots of events happening. A great way to get to know your flatmates better and meet other students it to go to one of these events.

You’ll meet people from all around the country and even international students from around the world. These events can be really fun and chances are you’ll end up heading to the pub or a club afterwards.

Unpack Your Stuff

If you left your stuff to unpack for later, by the end of the day you’ll need to unpack some of it. You’ll find that you’ve definitely forgotten some important things and need to go for a trip out to pick them up.

You might also need to go food shopping too, where you’ll be shocked at how much cheese actually is when you’re buying for yourself!

Buy realistically, the night will end with you and your flatmates getting back from a big night out, slightly intoxicated and with some cheesy chips in hand.

This is Probably How You'll spend Your First Day of University

Your first day of university is a big one that might stress you out before you get there. But once you arrive, all those nerves will dissipate and you’ll have a great day with some new friends.
