Sometimes, studying at the library just won’t do. There’s nothing like working from the comfort of your own room. It’s a place free of other people and distractions. Or is it? Sometimes, you can be even more distracted whilst working from home.

Don’t despair, if done right, studying from home can be even more productive than studying at uni. Read on to learn some of our top tips on how to study from home effectively.

Be your own boss

There are so many things that could distract you at home. Netflix. Your housemates cooking a meal in the kitchen together. Even just your bed.

You’ll have to be hard on yourself and keep yourself focused, in order to work effectively from home. It’s all about trying to find the right balance and right routine for you. It might seem hard at first, but you’ll get there.

Set your working hours

Yes, studying from home will give you a lot of flexibility when it comes to what you do and when. But you may find that with flexibility, you become a bit lost. Keep yourself on track by scheduling when you are going to work. Don’t forget to schedule in breaks as well, to keep yourself focused and motivated!

Stay off social media

A few years ago, staying off social media would have been easy. These days, however, it’s all too easy to get sucked into spending hours on the likes of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Resist the urge to scroll through your feed, and focus upon working. Keep your social media to break times only. And don’t forget to stick to your breaks! You can scroll through your social media, but moderation is key. Keep it short and sweet, to maximise your chances of successfully studying from home.
