Living with a partner whilst at University? Living in Accommodation? Wondering how to manage? Here's our guide

It can be risky, especially if you haven’t been together for very long, but living with a partner at university could be good for you. Whilst there’s a lot that could go wrong, there’s a lot that could go right too.

It’s a massive commitment, and could have implications for not only your partner, and yourself, but anyone else who you choose to live with. But before you decide if living with a partner at university is the right choice for you, be sure to read this guide first.

It’ll be cheaper

Think about it, instead of having to rent and then run two different properties, you can save money and live in the same house. You could even share a room to make things even cheaper. The only thing with this is that it might not give you a lot of personal space, and if things go wrong, you’ll be stuck with each other.

It’s only for committed partners

Moving in with a partner should only really be considered if you have been going out with one another for a considerable length of time and know each other well. If there have been any red flags in the relationship, should you really be moving in with one another?

It could lead to arguments

Just think, you’re living with one another, all the time. You see them every day. Things are bound to flare up. Are you sure you’re ready for that?

Also, if you break up or fall out, your flatmates will be caught in the middle of arguments and may start to argue with you as well. If things go wrong, you could end up losing your partner as well as your friends.

Hopefully, we’ve helped you decide whether or not you should live with a partner at university.
