With Christmas creeping ever closer, there is so much to see and do over the festive period. One of the best things to do in the run up to Christmas is to visit a Christmas market. Christmas markets originated in Germany, hence most markets having a continental flair.

 

There are so many of these markets popping up in towns and cities all around the UK. But there are also so many amazing markets all around Europe.  But some Christmas markets stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Berlin

 

Germany is well-known as the home of Christmas markets, and there are so many to choose from. Berlin’s Christmas markets are the ones to go to.

There is no one Christmas market in Berlin, instead, there are over 70 individual ones! This means that you’ll have plenty of exploring to do! Book yourself an extended break to Berlin and make sure you fit everything in.

Strasbourg

 

Strasbourg’s Christmas market is France’s biggest, oldest and arguably best Christmas market. This market benefits from its beautiful surroundings to make it one of the most picturesque markets in Europe. Zagreb

 

Croatia’s capital goes mad for Christmas, especially in the run up to Christmas. The festive period means that Christmas markets start popping up all over the city. You’ll find more food stalls than gift stalls at this Christmas market, as well as a huge ice rink. Make your next festive trip one to Croatia and fill up on festive food.
