You’ll be able to get the perfect shot, as well as get to see the city a little bit better too.

Here’s our guide to the best sights in Newcastle.

The Angel of the North

A true icon of the North East, The Angel of the North is a must for any hardcore Instagrammer. Anthony Gormley’s Masterpiece was completed in 1998 and has welcomed millions to the North East ever since. You can catch a bus from Newcastle city centre to this great monument.

The Tyne Bridge

Another icon of the North East, specifically one of Newcastle. Built in 1926, this grand old green bridge has adorned the labels of billions of Newcastle Brown Ale bottle tops and labels since it was first brewed in 1927. A great place to get a good shot is from the quayside, or in the rooftop bar of the nearby Vermont Hotel.

Grey’s Monument

Grey’s Monument is arguably the centrepiece of Newcastle City Centre. Standing at 130 feet tall, the statue of Earl Grey stands guard over the city that loved him so much. The surrounding monument area is one of the prettiest parts of the city. Take a photo from the top of the monument on certain days throughout the summer, or retire to the nearby Botanist Bar to get some good shots.

St James’ Park

The home of the Black and White Army, Newcastle United, this hallowed ground has been home to NUFC ever since they were formed in 1892. Take a tour of the stadium, which will take you behind the scenes, all the way up to the top of the stadium. This makes for some great photos of this amazing stadium, as well as across the rest of the city. Not to be missed!

Jesmond Dene

The leafy suburb of Jesmond is popular with tourists and students alike. Located just out of the city centre, Jesmond is a gorgeous place to explore. Not least Jesmond Dene, the park was created by Lord Armstrong in the 1860s and was gifted to the city. When you see it for yourself, you’ll soon realise how much of a gift it truly is.
