The North East is unquestionably full of places that are picture-worthy, but there are some that are even more picturesque and instaworthy. Bamburgh Beach

 

You’ve probably seen many a picture of an ancient castle perched up on the top of a rock next to a dramatic and sweeping coastline. Chances are, it was a picture of Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland. Head along to the beach to get your own version of this breathtaking landscape.

Northumberlandia

 

Northumberlandia is located just a short drive north of Newcastle along the A1 and is one of the biggest new artworks to arrive in the North East. Northumberlandia is made of 1.5 million tonnes of earth from neighbouring Shotton Surface Mine, it is 34 metres (112 feet) high and 400 metres (1,300 feet) long. This fearless female sculpture is open to all to explore and get to know, as well as get some great shots for your instagram.

Whitby

 

Whitby, located along the North Yorkshire coast, is technically not in the North East, but only just. The home all things gothic and Dracula, Whitby has been bewitching visitors for hundreds of years. Make a trip up the 99 steps to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, from there, you’ll be able to get a good view of this historic fishing town. .

Blanchland

 

Located on the County Durham and Northumberland border, 45 minutes southwest of Newcastle, Blanchland is a marvellous village. Owned by the Lord Crewe trust, the village of Blanchland hasn’t really changed in a good few hundred years. Use it as a base to explore the surrounding areas, or jam yourself into the crypt bar of the Lord Crewe Arms for some fine drinks and photo opportunities.

Cragside

 

The Northumberland estate of Cragside is one of the prettiest country estates in the North. Created by Lord Armstrong, the house and surrounding estate were used to showcase some of the latest technological advances at the time. The house was the first in the world to be lit by electric lighting. This isn’t the reason why so many flock here now, the house and the surrounding grounds are gorgeous. You’re bound to get some nice photos here.
