When looking for student accommodation, there are several things that you need to bear in mind. It can be overwhelming at times looking for accommodation, with a lot of factors that you need to consider. To help you out, we’ve put together some of the key things that you need to consider when looking for and choosing student accommodation.

Price

This is probably one of the most important factors to consider when looking for student accommodation. Before beginning your property search, you need to work out what kind of budget you can afford. Work out what you can spend on rent and bills per week. It is important to remember that a housing contract can last for up to 12 months, so make sure that you have the means to pay for a whole years’ rent.

Location

Location, location, location. This is another important factor to consider when looking for student accommodation. Location and price often go hand in hand. You’re likely to pay more for a convenient, city centre location near to your campus. This is great if you want to be near to uni and everything else the city centre has to offer you.

Properties that are a bit further out will probably not cost as much. This is ideal for if you want somewhere a bit quieter and away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Facilities

A lot of modern, purpose-built student accommodations come with a lot of facilities included. These range from common rooms, all the way up to concierge services and complimentary buffet breakfasts. Whilst these all sound enticing, you need to consider whether or not these will appeal to you. For example, it might be worth paying that little bit extra for a property that has a gym, rather than shelling out on an additional gym membership.

Look around and find the properties with the facilities that are right for you.
