Preparation is key

Before viewing any student accommodation, make sure to do your research. Look at what kinds of places you want to live in, where you might want to live and what you can afford. Looking into reviews is wise too. Check out what other people are saying about different accommodations, landlords and even areas of town.

Remember, you’ll be spending an academic year living in accommodation, so a few hours browsing the internet and doing research will pay off.

Location, location, location

We touched on this point above, but considering the location of any potential accommodation is important too.
Is it in walking/cycling distance of university? There are loads of other things you should consider as well.

Are you close to friends, shops and other local facilities?

The location also has an impact on the cost of accommodation as well. A more affordable place further out of town might seem like a good deal, but might the cost of transport be greater?

Cost is a contributing factor

Before you even start thinking about viewing student accommodation, you need to have a budget in mind. Most rents will be displayed as a weekly cost. When looking for accommodation, make sure you know what is included in the weekly rent charge and what isn’t. You don’t want any nasty surprises.

As mentioned earlier, the location is another factor that will have an impact on the price too.

These are some of the things to consider when looking for accommodation
