Want to celebrate New Year this year? Here's how to celebrate New Year on a budget, as a student

The end of a new year and the start of another is always a big occasion here in the UK. Millions around the country stay up and see in the new year well into the wee hours of the morning. There’s plenty of ways to celebrate New Years, not to mention plenty of places to do so.

However, many of these New Years parties aren’t designed for student budgets in mind. Too often, these events have high ticket prices, and then there’s the cost of food and drink, not to mention the cost of getting a new outfit. But there are several ways how you can celebrate New Year on a budget.

Party at home

Save your money by not buying a ticket to some expensive party at some expensive joint in town by holding a party at home. Invite all of your friends round to yours for a big party to see in the new year. They can bring their own drinks, and could contribute some party snacks as well. You don’t need to do anything too fancy, just have fun! In fact, 2/3 of Brits said in 2018 that this was their preferred New Year option!

Recycle your outfit

Look, buying a nice new outfit for New Years is great and all, but it’s also quite costly. Surely you could make a nice outfit form what you already have? Mix it up a bit and wear an outfit combination that you haven’t worn before, Chances are, people will think it’s a whole new outfit, or they just won’t remember that you’ve worn it at all.

Go to someone else's house party

Save having all the stress and mess of hosting your own house party, and go to someone else’s instead! You’ll only have to supply your own supply of alcohol and nothing else! Just make sure you have your plans sorted before you commit to going to a party that might not be happening!

Or alternatively, you could just have an early night and sleep your way into the new year.

This is how to celebrate new year on a budget

As you can see, celebrating New Year can be lots of fun and doesn’t need to cost you the Earth. Whatever you do, have fun!
