Christmas is a costly time of year for anybody. Too often, it’s easy to overstretch yourself and your spending. According to Save the Student, Christmas costs the average student £161. Many students may find themselves spending much more than this. There is often so much pressure to go out or to buy gifts for many people. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

There are so many simple and affordable gifts that you can give to people, that don’t have to cost the earth. Show that you care, without breaking the bank, with our great budget Christmas gift ideas. Here’s some christmas gifts on a budget you can buy as a student.

Framed photos

Framed photos are a great way to show that you care, and actually, do make a great Christmas gift. Cute frames can be found quite cheaply, and photo printing can be done for pennies in the likes of Boots and supermarkets. Find a nice photo of you and your friend from a memorable day out. They’ll be able to look at it and reminisce about all the good times you had together.

Homemade Christmas cards

What better way to show of your skills and your Christmas spirit with a homemade Christmas card? Not only will you save money, but you’ll have fun making them too. You don’t have to be great at arts or crafts either. Even if your card looks a bit naff, your friends will probably laugh and appreciate it.

A personalised pick and mix jar

This one is super easy. Wash an old jar, and buy some of your friend’s favourite sweets from the supermarket. Simply fill the jar up and seal the lid. Try decorating your jar with things such as stickers, glitter and ribbons. Your friends will love their sweet treats, and will love the fact that you’ve remembered what sweets they like too!

A hamper of treats

This might sound like a lot, but it isn’t really. Find a nice box, crate, basket or container, as well as some tissue paper. Then, buy some of their favourite things, as well as a few treats. Thing candles, sweets and things such as bubble bath (if they’re lucky enough to have a bath of course!) and fill your hamper.

Not only will it look like you have got them a load of stuff, they are bound to enjoy using it and appreciate the effort you have put into it.

A bottle of fizz

If all else fails, buy them a cheap bottle of prosecco or cava. It’s bound to not go amiss.
