Have you been thinking about how to boost your CV whilst at university? Read our guide about things you can through your studies to enhance your professional career.

If you are looking at how to boost your CV, there are a range of things you can do. We’ve listed a few here:

Extra curricular activities in your University and volunteering

A part from providing you with the education that you need for your future career, your University is probably the best place to start with if you want to enhance your professional profile.

A great way on how to boost your CV is by taking part in activities, causes or societies. Especially those whose functions and goals are in line with your personal interests. As an example, if you’re interested in current affairs or your course is studied around this area then the UNICEF society could be a good shot. You can approach the society’s committees and find out about whether you can get involved in the running and promotion of the society around the campus.

Taking part in activities such as the previous example is a great way to meet new people, explore your interests and add valuable experience to your CV as employers highly consider your interests outside your course. Even if the society you’re taking part in has no distinct relevance to the type of job you want. Just take a look at these societies for example.

Learn a new language

It’s no surprise that proficiency is considered an asset in our internationalised world.  The good news is that many universities now offer languages as electives which you can choose among your main study subjects.

Part-time jobs

This one is a more obvious one as it gives you the chance to either gain direct experience in your field, or if in an area different than your studies, it can assist you in improving your soft skills.

Additionally, undertaking a part-time job during your studies helps you earn extra money. It can also be a great way of meeting new people and making friends.

Work placements and internships

keep an open eye for the work placements and internship opportunities that may be available to you. This option is also a very effective way of enhancing your professional profile. Moreover, it gives you the chance to gain direct and practical experience in your field.
