Seahouses

Located up the Northumberland coast, Seahouses is a truly charming fishing town. Go up there and find all the traditional seaside activities, as well as some others you might not expect to find. Fish and chips from Lewis’s are a must, as well as ice creams from Coxons. Seahouses is also the starting point for boat tours around the Farne Islands.

Hadrian’s Wall

Located about an hour’s drive north of Newcastle lies the impressive Hadrian’s Wall, built in Roman times as the historic boundary between England and Scotland. There are many tours that visit this historic former border. Barnard Castle

Down in County Durham lies the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle. This truly charming town is full of quirky independent retailers and restaurants. Barnard Castle is the gateway to the beautiful Teesdale countryside. Be sure to visit the beautiful Bowes Museum, modelled after a French chateau. Here, you’ll see the silver swan, an 18th Century sterling silver automaton, the only one left in the world.

Bamburgh Castle

If you decide to stay in Seahouses, be sure to walk or drive a couple of miles up the road to Bamburgh Castle. This breathtaking castle dates from c.420 and is one of the most impressive castles in Northumberland today. Be sure to explore the surrounding village, as well as the beach, to admire one of the most famous views in the UK.
