The end of term is drawing ever closer, and the only thing you’re thinking about is when you can finish uni for the year and go home. Soon, you’ll be back with your family, getting ready to celebrate Christmas together. There’s not long to go, but you still have a lot to do.
You need to make sure that you’ve seen all your friends before you go, as well as finishing any assignments you may have yet to hand in. But there’s plenty of other things you need to think about. Make sure you get set for going home before Christmas.
Make sure everything is switched off
Before you go, make sure anything that you don’t need to be on over Christmas is switched off at the wall. Things like toasters and kettles don’t need to be plugged in, as well as your tv and pc. If you have your bills included as part of your rent, you don’t need to worry about this as much.
Think about the environment, however, and switch them off. Obviously, don’t switch your fridge off, and if your flatmates aren’t going home, then don’t switch everything off.
Do a clean before you go
Make sure you come back to a lovely clean room and flat by doing a thorough clean of your room, bathroom and any communal living areas. The last thing you want to be coming back to is a load of filth, or worse still, an infestation! Throw away any food that is about to go out of date. Make sure you take the bins out as well, for added peace of mind.
Remember to pack everything you need
This one is important, as you’ll not be able to pop back for anything that you might have forgotten. Make sure you have important things like any passports and travel documents, as well as any prescription medication you may require.
If you’re taking any presents back, don’t forget to pack them too. Remember to pack any clothes you might need or want to wear whilst you’re back at home.
Don’t forget your work
Remember to pack any books or uni work that you may need to work on or revise with over the Christmas break. Likewise, remember to take your laptop with you, otherwise, you might be stuck when you come to work once you get home.
