It’s the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas is all around us. You’ll have probably seen Christmas decorations up in all the shops as early as September! So you’ve likely felt as though you’re walking in a winter wonderland for quite some time now.

But have you thought about decorating your flat for Christmas? That is if you’re not a bah-humbug! Your flat doesn’t have to look like the house from Home Alone, you don’t need to go all out, but there are plenty of little ways to decorate your flat for Christmas.

Don’t splash your cash

Don’t fritter away your cash on expensive decorations, especially as they’ll only be up for a few weeks anyway. Instead, get more bang for your buck and shop at places that offer you better value for money. Stores such as Wilko and Primark are great places to find cheap Christmas decorations, and still have change left over from a twenty pound note.

Get crafty with it

There’s nothing more fun (and satisfying) than getting your craft on! Why not try to make some Christmas decorations of your own. There are millions of great little projects and ideas out there. Look on sites such as Pinterest for some festive inspiration.

Fairy lights

Fairy lights are a great go-to for any wannabe student decorator. You can put them up or drape them literally anywhere. You can get battery-powered ones if you want to save on any electricity bills. With it being Christmas as well, you can get all kinds of brightly coloured fairy lights in all shapes and colours.

If you decide that you’ll be decorating your flat for Christmas, make sure you have a clear idea of budget and what you want to do. But most of all, have fun with it! It’ll help you to get into the festive spirit.
