With Christmas creeping ever closer, there is so much to see and do over the festive period. One of the best things to do in the run up to Christmas is to visit a Christmas market. These days, there are so many of these markets popping up in towns and cities all around the UK. But some Christmas markets stand head and shoulders above the rest.

We’ve put together five of our picks of the best uk christmas markets. Read on, and be sure to visit these amazing markets!

Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s Christmas markets are well known for their size and scale. The city comes alive every November through to January. The focus of the markets is located in the Princes Street Gardens, with satellite markets in St Andrew’s Square and along Rose Street. In a city as historic and beautiful as Edinburgh, Christmas feels magical.

London

The capital city has plenty of different Christmas markets running throughout the festive period. Be sure to check out Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, home to an observation wheel, ice rink and comedy club. Down by the Southbank centre, the winter festival sells a variety of cute winter gifts and foods along the Thames.

Birmingham

Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany. You’ll be sure to have an authentic Christmas market experience in Birmingham. There are over 80 stalls selling fine German foods and personalised gifts. Another draw is the massive bandstand, with live bands and entertainment to keep you entertained through the evening.

Leeds

Leeds Christkindelmarkt is another great Christmas market to tick off your list. Located in Millenium Square, make your way around traditional German chalets filled with bars, food and traditional handmade gifts.

There’s a carousel and stage with bands to keep you entertained. Stop off at Victoria gardens at Thor’s Tipi, a pop-up tipi bar offering a whole host of festive food and drink.

Bath

Bath’s award-winning Christmas market is one not to miss. There are over 200 stalls to wander around and explore. A key point about Bath’s Christmas market is the amount of local produce and product available. More than 80% of stallholders came from Bath and south-west England.

You’re bound to find something that you won’t find anywhere else, ideal for if you’re looking for a gift for someone who has it all.
