As the nights get darker and things get colder, you might find yourself feeling more and more run down. It’s easily done, especially with there being so many bugs going around this time of year. Fortunately, though, there are plenty of simple things you can do to make sure that you stay as healthy as you can during the winter months.

Here’s how to stay healthy as a student during the Winter months.

Get out and about as much as possible

 

It can be difficult, and there may be fewer hours of daylight per day, but it’s important that you try and get out as much as possible. Getting out into natural daylight will help you feel awake, more refreshed and less tired as a result. The less tired you feel, the better chance your immune system and body as a whole has of keeping you fit and healthy during the winter months.

Eat better

 

Whilst it can be easy enough to curl up and eat plenty of comfort food, you need to try and eat a healthy, balanced diet during the winter months. This will give you and your body the best chance of staying as healthy as possible. Another thing to try and do is to have a hot and hearty breakfast. Not only is it a great way to start your day, but you’ll also feel fuller for longer. Meaning that you’ll feel less inclined to pick up those sugary snacks!

 

Sort your sleep cycle out

 

This one is most definitely easier said than done, but sorting out your sleep cycle will really help give you and your body a boost. Try to go to bed at a similar time most days, so that your body can get settled into a routine and cycle. Another thing to try is not using your phone, laptop or other electronic devices an hour before bed.

Switch off and help your body switch off. Sleep is a vital time for your body, as your body uses this time to repair itself. This is especially helpful if you’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.
