1. Check out Oystermouth Castle
If there’s one thing Wales does better than anywhere else, its castles. Wales has a huge population of castles and no matter where you are, you’re never too far from one.
Oystermouth Castle is close to Swansea and definitely worth visiting. This castle has gorgeous grounds to wander through and an incredible view over Swansea Bay. It opens up in the spring and is a great place to explore with friends or as a solo trip.
2. Take Yourself on a Food Tour of the Mumbles
The Mumbles is a fantastic little seaside village running along Swansea Bay and if you’re a foodie, make sure to try out the food here.
All the seafood served here is caught locally by the bay and you can taste how fresh each dish is. The Mumbles Oyster Festival runs annually and it’s definitely worth trying out. When you’ve finished your seafood, make sure to grab an ice cream from one of the many local parlours.
3. See Some Welsh Art
Swansea is also home to some fantastic artwork and if you’re an art lover, this is the perfect place for you. For some of the best exhibitions in the city, make sure to go to the The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
If Fine Art is more your thing, make sure to head to the Mumbles and visit the Gower Gallery. Here, they specialise in sculptures, ceramics, paintings and some limited edition Giclee prints.
4. Explore the Swansea Marina
Swansea is a port city and the Swansea Marina is a hub of activity that you must be sure to check out. Right along the River Tawe, Swansea Marina has a stunning view over the water. There are a lot of boats for you to admire and it’s a great place to grab an ice cream and catch a sunset.
There are also a lot of great bars and restaurants to explore here too so make sure to head along and grab a bite to eat.
5. Check Out Uplands
Uplands is an award winning area of Swansea as it has won the title of hippest area in the UK. If that’s your kind of vibe, this is the place for you to be.
If you’re looking for a great place to drink, get yourself along to Uplands Tavern. It’s a hotspot for live music and performances and everything is reasonably priced here too. With quirky spots like Noah’s Yard, Whitez and Uplands Diner, there’s always something eye catching to enjoy here.
