Student life is one that’s full of parties, drinking, takeaways and fun. But it’s also a time where you have to study and work hard. It’s easy to lose sight of why you’re actually there, but it’s important to try and study more effectively.

But studying isn’t always easy. Let’s face it, it can be boring and we aren’t always motivated to do it. Whether you’re studying abroad or a home student, we all have to hit the library sometimes and it sucks.

It doesn’t have to be so difficult though. There are many ways to study more effectively and help yourself get the grades you need. To make your work the best it can be, follow our ultimate guide to studying.

1. Wait Till the Last Minute

People may tell you not to wait till the last minute while you’re studying, but they don’t know what they’re talking about. Time is precious and why bother stressing yourself out by thinking about it too long beforehand?

Everyone works better under pressure anyways. When you’ve got a strict deadline to work to, it gives you that extra push you need to get it all done. Don’t stress about it too much beforehand, just relax and let the stress motivates you further later on.

2. Talk to Everyone in the Library

The library is the best place to get work done and there are many other students there in the exact same position as you. Make sure you head along and make yourself comfortable there.

A great way to get inspired and build a sense of solidarity is to talk to everyone in the library. People love to hear about other people and make new friends while they study, so make sure to strike up as many conversations as possible. You’ll get around to your work eventually, but getting to know people is a crucial part of university.

3. Pull an All Nighter

Some people swear by a strict study schedule leading up to an exam or assignment, but that takes away from your own time. How can you have any fun or relax when you’re studying all the time?

You’ll get just as much quality work done when you wait to do it the night before. Grab some energy drinks, order in a takeaway and stay up through the night. Cram as much information as you possibly can and before you know it you’ll have a passing grade!

4. Bring Your Phone With You

Our phones have our whole lives on them and when we’re trying to study they can really help. Some people might say that it’s an unnecessary distraction, but they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Keep your phone with your at all times. Who knows when somebody will need to contact you? Inspiration may strike when you scroll through social media and that funny tweet may give you something to write about.

5. Study With Friends

Study groups are a great way to get work done, and when you have friends who love to chat, it’s perfect. Make it a fun event and meet up in the pub on a match day, then you get to enjoy the game and get so much work done!

There’s no way this could go badly and it’s a surefire way to stay focused and get your work done. Plus you get to spend quality time with friends instead of sectioning yourself away from society.
